Team onboarding

Stephan joined our team at the beginning of May. Hendrik beat him to it, starting two months earlier, right in the middle of the "COVID era." "What actually appealed to you about the role? And why did you choose TeamValue?" Hendrik asks Stephan. Stephan replies: "I felt a real connection with the organization, which was super important to me. You can do your job anywhere in the BI field, but a fun team and, more importantly, the value proposition for clients really matter to me. It gives me confidence that cool projects are coming up and that we’re working on them together instead of alone, which you often see in contracting. So, it was a conscious choice for me to work at a smaller organization that truly does IT consultancy. I really appreciate the personal approach! And how about you? Did you have a strange start back in March?"  

Hendrik: "I had worked in the office for exactly nine days before we all walked out with our screens under our arms to set up our home offices following Rutte's speech. It took some getting used to, but it was cool to see how quickly we could pivot. My onboarding actually started before I even joined. I had already visited the office on a Tuesday evening to attend a 'tech night' and had spoken to several people in my network about TeamValue."  

"Working at TeamValue? My work-life balance has definitely improved. I only now truly understand what OHANA means. We work hard, but we always do it together as a team. Even when we're on a consultancy assignment at a client's site, we regularly have brainstorming sessions among ourselves, and we always head back to our home base in Zwolle on Fridays," says Hendrik.  

IT consultancy in our DNA

Lately, the guys—and all our other colleagues—have been busy earning certifications. "Yes, for some assignments in our field, it's important to have the right certifications, but these days it's increasingly about really uncovering the question behind the question as a consultant," says Hendrik. "Curiosity, a desire to keep learning, and showing a bit of guts? That just has to be in your DNA," adds Stephan.

Because yes, we can handle a 'Move to the Cloud' project for you, teach your team how to migrate to Azure DevOps, and build strategic reporting for you in Power BI, but our work is only truly successful if the client's team knows how to do it all themselves afterward! That is IT consultancy from our DNA.

"What value are you bringing to strengthen our team? It was one of the three questions I had to answer when I submitted my application via the website," laughs Stephan. Thinking about where you match with the organization, watching videos of team members, and gathering some info within your network about how TeamValue is positioned in the market. That helped me form a complete picture of the organization. "I get that. It's the only way to know if you're hiring people who share your values and therefore believe in things like the principles of The Golden Path, ensuring we can pass that on to our clients as well."  

"Three lefts make a right," adds Hendrik . Sometimes it's just a different way of thinking. We stand for 'Digital Business, Human Results,' because those two always need each other to be successful. Stephan: "My experience is mainly in the areas of Business Intelligence and The Modern Workplace. Together with my colleague Xander, we are looking at how to bring the teams at KPMG and Humanitas to the next level of maturity in Business Intelligence, among other things."
