Many questions, challenges and opportunities as a Techionista

Stephanie: “A switch from the cultural sector, but certainly not a culture shock. We've heard something about the big, angry IT world and hard consultancy, but I don't experience it that way at all. We want to deliver value, really work together and help each other where necessary. That focus on results is all right”. She adds: “I also worked with Power BI before, but compared to what I know and can do now, that was peanuts. We tell a story with data and I think that's the coolest thing of all! Does that background in content marketing still come in handy?”

Dorien said he was always friends with IT. In her previous jobs, she already had a lot of experience with processes and technology. She says: “That flame always stayed on until I decided to really make the switch! I was always looking to substantiate the data. After studying SQL, DAX and Data Factory, among others, it was clear to me that I was ready for this new adventure!”

This is how you become a Business Intelligence Expert

Expert, expert... Both ladies still think that's a big word. “That's also something that needs to grow,” says Dorien. “We've all had a 'throw that laptop out the window' moment, but that was short lived. Most of all, you wanted to solve that puzzle!” In particular, the Agile way of working based on BizDevOps really appeals to her, and that is partly why she chose TeamValue. “The culture, the non-hierarchical and substantive proposition really appeal to me,” says Dorien.

For Stephanie, Data Engineering was the most distant thing about her. It's more abstract, but once set up properly, you get so much more out of data and their connections. “'I couldn't wait for the speed dates that were already scheduled. I couldn't hide my enthusiasm after seeing the videos on the website. I got through Xander's famous interview question well and then everything went pretty fast. After a number of cool conversations, critical questions from both sides and, above all, a lot of positive energy, I was able to say it: “I'm a Teammember!” If you are now curious about that famous interview question, I would say apply 😉 You can do that via jobs @TeamValue.

The first months at TeamValue and the first assignment in the field

Stephanie has already heard a lot about our customer from TeamValue colleagues at the office Air Miles and what cool things we're doing there. So nice to hear that she could also start there herself. She is working on a plan for the data team's dashboards so that they can optimize data insights for themselves and other departments. Dorien is involved in the PO Council in converting existing dashboards into a new environment. Both took the steps towards BI Specialist within their first assignment and look forward to working with colleagues on Data Engineering solutions and applying all our architecture principles.

One thing is certain. The ladies are going to work flying hours, keep learning and are curious how they look at themselves as data professionals in six months. In any case, the IT world is at their feet.
