Peter started as a Business Intelligence Consultant at TeamValue on April 1st. Now that his first 100 days are behind him, it’s time to look back at his start, the projects he’s tackled so far, and what has stuck with him the most.
How were your first few days at TeamValue?
"On my first day, my laptop and accounts were ready to go. That might sound like a given, but it’s not the case everywhere." That first week was all about getting to know everyone. Some meetings were already scheduled, and Peter took the initiative to get to know his colleagues better on his own. "You quickly get a sense of who has what expertise and who you can turn to with questions. That made me feel like part of the team pretty fast."
Surprisingly, the onboarding process took less time than expected. "I finished my onboarding faster than planned, which meant I got an extra project early on. I actually liked that. I was eager to get to work as soon as possible."
What projects have you worked on during your first 100 days?
Peter worked on three different projects in his first 100 days. It’s that variety that he really enjoys.
At Air Miles, he helped with the transition to a new cloud platform. His task was to verify that the new data delivery in the acceptance environment matched the production environment. "I validated multiple entities using PySpark notebooks in Azure Synapse Analytics and highlighted any discrepancies. This allowed the data team to resolve potential issues before the new environment went live."
"You get a lot of responsibility and have direct contact with clients. At the same time, you’re never on your own."
"At Deployteq, the reports had become increasingly bloated over the years. By simplifying and restructuring the reporting setup, we created a single, clear report that was much easier to manage. It saved time immediately and made the reports much more useful for the organization."
His most recent project was for the Nederlands Centrum Jeugdgezondheid. "I built a complete data model there in Microsoft Fabric, including a Lakehouse connection and the necessary reports. What I liked about this project is that we built the solution together with the client. That way, they can continue working with it themselves after delivery."
Freedom and responsibility
What defines TeamValue for Peter is the combination of independence and support. "You get a lot of responsibility and have direct contact with clients. At the same time, you’re never on your own."
Whenever he hits a snag, he says help is never far away. "There’s a wealth of knowledge within the team. If I have a question, I usually get useful tips quickly that I can put to work right away."
Keep on growing
In addition to his projects, Peter has also been working on his own development. In his first few months, he earned both his PSM I and DP-900 certifications.
"DP-600 is already on my schedule. I hope to wrap that up in Q3."
What has stuck with you the most?
When asked what has surprised him most positively, Peter doesn't have to think long. "The combination of colleagues, culture, and humor. Of course, the projects are important, but at the end of the day, it’s the people you work with who make the difference."
His conclusion after the first 100 days is clear. "There’s a lot of expertise in the organization, there’s room to develop yourself, and you’re given a lot of trust. That makes TeamValue an employer I would definitely recommend."
"The combination of colleagues, culture, and humor has been a pleasant surprise. Of course, the projects are important, but at the end of the day, it’s the people you work with who make the difference."
