Behind every strong team is a strong region. That’s why we’ve been a proud sponsor for years of PEC Zwolle United, the club’s community arm. Not just because we love football, but mostly because we believe in giving back to the region where we work, live, and play. One of the initiatives we’ve been passionate about for years is Playing for Success. A program that helps young people grow.

Playing for Success: learning with a WOW factor

Playing for Success helps kids blossom in ways you won't find in a classroom. It’s an after-school program that uses sports and education to help children shine again. It’s often for students who need a little extra help: kids who are feeling a bit insecure, struggling with fear of failure, or just need a boost in their self-confidence. At the PEC Zwolle stadium—a cool location—they spend ten weeks learning with that coveted “WOW factor”. They tackle exciting, playful assignments and gain positive experiences outside the regular classroom.

The result? Their motivation and self-confidence grow by the week. That’s exactly the magic of Playing for Success: learning becomes fun, and kids discover they’re capable of so much more than they thought.

Celebrating freedom during PEC Zwolle vs. FC Twente

On Sunday, April 13, 2025, the big day arrived: TeamValue headed to the PEC Zwolle vs. FC Twente match with 30 kids from Playing for Success and their chaperones. And this wasn't just any game. The match was entirely dedicated to 80 years of freedom. Exactly eight decades ago, in April 1945, Zwolle was liberated from German occupation. The city owed that liberation in large part to one man: Canadian soldier Léo Major, who single-handedly managed to save Zwolle from destruction.

As a tribute, PEC Zwolle played this match in a special “Leo Major Liberation jersey,” and the stadium was filled with reminders of 1945. A massive banner hung in the stadium with the text:“The courage of yesterday, secured our freedom today.”

On the pitch, in the spotlight

During halftime, it was the kids' turn. Carrying signs that read “Zwolle 80 years of freedom 1945–2025,” they walked proudly along the pitch. First in front of the main stand, then in front of the goal. It was a beautiful sight. The combination of sports, history, and togetherness made a real impression: on the crowd, on the kids, and on us.
