"I had a good feeling about TeamValue from our very first conversation. A hundred days later, that’s only been confirmed."
Hidde started as a Business Analyst at TeamValue in April. He began his first few weeks at the company alongside another Business Analyst and a BI consultant. Now, a hundred days later, we’re looking back. How did the first few months go? What has he learned? And is TeamValue what he expected it to be?
How do you look back on your first 100 days?
"If I had to sum up my first 100 days in five words, they would be: fun, adjustment, interesting, great, and unique.
Fun, because TeamValue really lives up to its core value of fun . There are constant initiatives and activities that let you get to know your colleagues in a different way. At the same time, it was a bit of an adjustment. At my previous job, I always felt like I was short on time over the last few years. Plus, I mostly worked on relatively short, intense projects. Switching to larger, long-term projects was definitely a gear shift at first.
What makes it interesting is that TeamValue really does things its own way. I heard that during my initial interviews, but now I’ve experienced it for myself. It’s helped me learn a lot and gain new insights in a short amount of time.
It’s also felt great from the start. There’s a lot of focus on the people. Of course, it’s about results, but it’s also about having fun, personal development, and how everyone is doing. You really notice that in our day-to-day collaboration.
And maybe 'unique' is the word that ties it all together. There are so many different people working here, yet it all just clicks. Or maybe we aren't actually that different after all (wink)?"
What stands out most from your first week?
"Mostly just a lot of conversations," Hidde laughs. "I started with Peter and Jochem, and we got to know so many colleagues. We had tons of chats and went for plenty of walks. To be honest, I didn't remember everything from that first week. It was just a lot of impressions all at once."
What projects have you been working on?
"My first period was immediately focused on a major internal project centered around our AI First strategy."
The core question was surprisingly practical, according to Hidde. "How do you ensure employees can use AI while also being able to quickly verify that the information they're using is reliable? And how do you set that up so it doesn't become unnecessarily complicated?"
That project eventually resulted in a complete playbook. With that manual, organizations can get started on implementing AI in a responsible and practical way themselves. We’re already using the solution internally, and there are plans to share it with clients as well."
Hidde has also recently started working at DUO in Groningen. "There, I’m working within the Data theme board on the ambition to help DUO become even more data-driven, so they can serve their end customers even better. I’m currently in the process of getting to know the organization, the people, and the assignment. In a way, it feels like a fresh start again, but luckily I have great support from TeamValue and I’ve been welcomed warmly there too."
And how about your personal development?
"I haven't been sitting still during my first few months, either." He earned his PSPO I and PSM I certifications and is currently working on his IREB Foundation, a course focused on requirements engineering.
On top of that, he’s diving deeper into AI. "I’m working toward the Microsoft AI Business Professional certification. It teaches you how to effectively and securely deploy generative AI solutions like Microsoft 365 Copilot, Researcher, and Analyst within organizations."
Which moments stand out?
"I really enjoyed the TeamN8. During a TeamN8, the entire organization works together on a specific topic or tries to gain new knowledge as a group.
I love those kinds of initiatives. The dynamic is different from a regular workday. You get to know your colleagues in a different way while learning something new at the same time."
Is TeamValue as fun as you expected?
"Yes." The answer comes instantly. "I chose TeamValue because it felt right from the very first moment. A hundred days later, that feeling has only been confirmed."
According to Hidde, it’s all about the culture. "The culture is open. People trust each other, respect each other, and give each other the space to be themselves. At the same time, everyone feels like part of the company. We work on improvements together and are kept in the loop on the progress of all sorts of initiatives."
Have a win? It gets celebrated. Stuck on something? There’s always someone ready to help. I personally think that’s a huge strength."
So, is it all sunshine and rainbows? "No, and maybe that’s exactly where the strength lies. If something goes wrong, it gets discussed. The quality standards are high, but so is the trust people are given. Have a win? It gets celebrated. Stuck on something? There’s always someone ready to help. I personally think that’s a huge strength."
What are you looking forward to in the coming period?
"I’m happy with my move and feel like this is just the beginning. I’ve learned a lot, taken on some great projects, earned new certifications, and started my first assignment at DUO. At the same time, it feels like there’s so much more possible. I’m looking forward to adding even more value."
